Camp FAQs

Some details below are subject to change due to COVID procedures and requirements. We will notify families any time our policies change.

What does my child need to bring to camp each day?

Your child should bring a snack; a lunch; and a water bottle to camp every day. (Please do not pack any meat in your child's snack or lunch, per the request of Temple Sinai.) Your child should wear comfortable, dance-appropriate clothing and footwear to camp. On certain days, we may request that your child brings a bathing suit and towel or a specific item of clothing related to our theme for the week. Additionally, your child may be asked to bring a prop for the final performance on Friday. All of these details and notifications will be communicated to parents via email in advance of each week of camp. And we send daily email reminders during camp week.

What is your policy for children with food allergies?

Please let us know on your application and prior to camp if your child has a food allergy. Our camp is nut-free. We ask that children bring their own snacks and lunches and do not share, in order to minimize the risk to children with food allergies. If we plan to give out a nut-free, dairy-free, gluten-free snack, such as popsicles, we will notify you in advance and get your consent.

My child doesn't swim well. What supervision is there if you go to the pool?

When we swim at the JCC pool, there will be trained lifeguards on duty at all times. Our staff also supervises closely. Any children who can't swim or are not strong swimmers will stay in the shallow end where they can stand up safely. Please indicate your child's swim level on your application form.

How do you accommodate the wide range of ages and dance experience of campers?

For our dance instruction, children will be organized by experience and age, whenever appropriate. Some dance instruction includes all campers together in order to prepare for the Friday performance. For other activities, we divide up into age groups. Additionally, older campers help out with the younger campers, which gives the older campers some wonderful leadership experience!

Does my child need prior dance experience to attend camp?

No experience necessary! All levels are welcome, from beginner to advanced. You will be absolutely amazed at what your child can accomplish in just one week.

My child is almost 5-years-old. Can she attend dance camp?

In some cases, we will allow a child age 4 to enroll in dance camp. This is determined by the child's readiness and must be approved by Kids in Motion prior to enrollment.
